Driving anxiety and motherhood: regaining serenity

Regaining confidence and serenity at the wheel

Hello Mr. Koentges,

I am writing to you following the anti-stress coaching session I took with you in November 2018. First of all, I wanted to thank you: I left this training feeling lighter, safer, and with more self-confidence.

It was not a guaranteed success, however. I had explained to you that for several months, I had been feeling great distress behind the wheel: panic attacks, dizziness, and feeling paralyzed at the thought of taking the highway or even passing a truck. This new phobia was all the more stressful and debilitating because I am a mother of young children, who are often in the back of the car.

The theoretical presentation at the beginning of the session was a very useful reminder before hitting the road. The repetitive route, which gradually increased in difficulty, allowed me to feel at ease and to learn how to adopt the correct posture and distance.

Despite my significant stress at the thought of getting on the highway, you knew how to reassure me and guide me step by step. The result: the highway, speed, and overtaking were all possible and went quite smoothly!

I am keeping your advice close to heart and will try to apply it every time I get behind the wheel. One thing is certain: the apprehension has given way to a desire to drive. Thank you.
