15 years of driving stress: my journey toward recovery

15 years of driving stress: my journey toward recovery

Regaining confidence after a highway trauma

Fifteen years ago, I had a traumatic experience on the highway that plunged me into deep anxiety every time I had to go back. I consulted several psychologists and tried to face the highway on Sundays when there was less traffic, but despite these efforts, I could only cover short distances—petrified, hyperventilating, eyes dilated, almost waiting for an accident to happen.

Mr. Koentges explained to me that many people go through this type of trauma, but that it is possible to overcome it with the right advice. From the very first lesson, I identified certain driving errors that were undermining my confidence. Correcting them helped me gain better control over my driving. Getting to know my car better also proved to be very useful.

By the second session, I began to pick up speed and scan further down the highway with less fear. By the third lesson, I was driving at a steady speed, flowing with the traffic while remaining cautious. Practice remains essential, but reviewing the rules of the road, correcting misconceptions, and getting to know your car better—all of which Mr. Koentges offers from the first lesson—represents a real step toward safer driving.

After a few lessons, by applying his advice and positive attitude, I regained a great deal of independence. I can now safely drive my children to visit other cities. I highly recommend Mr. Koentges' lessons.

A big thank you.
