My fear of driving appeared overnight: the story of a rebirth

My fear of driving appeared overnight: the story of a rebirth

Like many people of my generation, I learned to drive at 18. By 19, with my license in hand, driving quickly became a pleasure, and then a true moment of relaxation. That feeling of freedom behind the wheel—the ability to move without constraints and to escape—I knew exactly how precious it was.

Then, without warning, everything changed. Shortly after starting a medical treatment, I had a reaction while driving alone on a highway in the south of France. The dizziness, followed by a panic attack, triggered a real phobia of highways. I tried to overcome it, first on my own, then with the help of therapists, without success. Every time I entered a highway, the physical distress returned and paralyzed me completely. My world gradually shrank. For eight years, I implemented avoidance strategies to escape the stress, living with the constant fear of being afraid.

At forty, I felt like a prisoner of my anxieties, overwhelmed by a deep sense of failure and helplessness, in real suffering. It was almost by chance that I discovered Rodolphe Koentges while searching the internet for effective help. After a first "safe driving" session, I already felt more independent. In four hours, I relearned how to position myself correctly in my car, how to master the steering wheel, and above all, where to look. I then decided to continue this rehabilitation with driving lessons. After five sessions, I felt totally liberated; I regained my confidence, my freedom of movement, and the pleasure of driving on the highway.

Rodolphe combines kindness, efficiency, professionalism, patience, and psychological insight. I can never thank him enough for what he has given me.
